Greetings in the matchless name Of Jesus. We really appreciate you taking the time to browse through our web site. Could we a take moment to tell you just a bit about us so that when you stop by the store we will be friends instead of strangers?
Our names are Susan and Scott Pigeon and we have been residents of Grover Beach since June of 1991. We have 3 sons aged 17 to 26. We had been customers of Jeannie at the Bible Depot since coming to town and never imagined that one day God would put us in a position to own it.
On March 7, 2005, we enjoyed a 'date lunch' and were asking God, once again, what he had planned for us. We stopped by the Bible Depot to see Jeannie and pick up a book we had ordered. While we were there Jeannie told us, "I don't know why but I feel like God wants you to know that we put the store up for sale last week."
If you have ever 'known that you know' that you have heard from God then you know how we felt at that moment!
We felt that God was tugging at our hearts and telling us that this is what he had planned for us. We looked at each other and, without saying a word, we both began to weep. Jeannie sensed what we felt and started crying right along with us. We told her we were definitely interested and would pray and seek Godly counsel on how we should proceed. On the way home we walked in 'stunned silence in a prayerful mood.'
God paved the way for us and after praying and receiving counsel from our pastor and several friends we became the new owners on May 2, 2005. There are many more details to the story so ask us about them when you visit.
We have been truly blessed by customers that continue to come in after all these years and by the new customers that come in to get to know us. The bookstore is more than a business; it is a ministry which allows us to meet Christians from all over. Many times the Lord has provided an open door for us to minister in prayer, exhortation and just show genuine love to people that have come with needs.
We look forward to what God has in store for us as we continue to walk in His will.
The next time you're in Grover Beach, please stop by and say 'hi.'
